Secondhand Sunday, April 30, 2023 (9 am - 5 pm)
Hello, Neighbours! The newly formed Community Facilities & Services committee of the DMRI wants to get as many neighbours as possible involved in the City of Toronto’s waste reduction strategy. The City’s Secondhand Sunday is the chance for neighbours to get rid of unwanted, but perfectly usable, items, by allowing neighbours to pick them up next to your sidewalk or curb for free. (This could include toys, books, crafts, movies, etc.) This is your chance not only to get rid of items in an environmentally friendly manner, but a chance to meet your neighbours face to face and have a chat (or not, as you prefer). You will be surprised how many people will drop by. Remember, no giveaway is too small!
So, how do you get involved? Sign up by sending an email to [email protected] with your name, contact info and neighbourhood (or closest major intersection). Too shy to sign up? No problem. Just make sure you post your free sale on social media by stating the street you live on and closest intersection, so people know where to find you. Don’t know how to use social media? Ask a neighbour for help! Let’s get to meet and know one another! The website has a Toolkit where you can download posters and flyers to post. Don’t forget to put up signs (advertising a ‘free sale’ or ‘Secondhand Sunday’) so neighbours can find your street. Rain date: Sunday, May 7th.
